7 Ways to Avoid Paraphrasing Tools

1. Read the original in-depth

Paraphrasing tools work by understanding the meaning of the text and then rewriting it using different words. If you want to avoid your work getting flagged for plagiarism, make sure you understand the original source material to get the most contextual meaning out of the source material.

2. Understand the objective or purpose

Keep in mind the objective or purpose behind the subject of your writing. Interpret the subtext deeper than just the surface words. To properly avoid detection, you need to be able to write as if the topic were your own original idea.

3. Use related terms

Instead of rewording phrases directly, use related terms. This method requires knowing the original language of the source material as well as related language in the language you desire to have your final output. Using related terms shows the software you are able to accurately interpret and translate languages.

4. Change sentence structure

Paraphrasing tools are also able to see the structure of your sentences. Make sure to not only change the words you use, but also the structure of your sentences. Order them differently to demonstrate your control over the source material.

5. Insert your own ideas

Inserting supplemental points of your own thinking demonstrates your command of the subject. The paraphrasing tools don’t have this ability and will flag your work when they detect the patterns of theft.

6. Write conversationally

Paraphrasing tools are still pretty bad at writing in a natural conversational style. Writing as if you are speaking helps your writing evade detection.

7. Cite your sources

Always cite your sources. This not only gives credit to the original author, but it also helps you avoid plagiarism. Even if you have rephrased the material, citing the source shows the reader you did your research.
